DWP BPS OKU and the Mako SP2020 Team Promote the 2020 Population Census

Dharma Wanita Association of the Central Statistics Agency (DWP BPS) of the OKU Regency and the Mako SP2020 BPS Team of the OKU Regency carried out the Socialization of the 2020 Population Census in the hall of the OKU Regency PKK hall on Thursday (7/11) with participants of the Chairperson and Management of the Regional Secretariat, OPD, Subdistrict and District Sub-districts throughout the OKU Regency.

 The Head of the Dharma Wanita Unit of OKU Regency, Mrs. Hj Susmadiana Achmad Tarmizi in his remarks at the opening of the socialization hoped that all the heads and administrators of the Dharma Wanita Regional Secretariat / OPD / Subdistrict and kelurahan throughout the OKU Regency to fully support the census and survey to be carried out by BPS especially in the implementation of the 2020 Population Census. Members of the OKU Regency Dharma Wanita are to become the "2020 Population Census Agents" in providing information related to the implementation of the Online Population Census activities in their respective work organizations and residences.

In addition Susmadiana hopes that the DWP management and Chairperson encourages DWP members and families as well as the general public to actively participate in Online Population Census activities, help socialize the 2020 Population Census and at the time of enumeration accept the arrival of the census officer by giving the correct answer.

 Susmadiana said that in 2018 an MoU had been held between the OKU Regent and the Head of the OKU Regency BPS on Development Data and Information Development, which was facilitated by the Office of Communication and Information as the leading sector in providing sectoral statistical data. This is in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 51 of 1999 concerning Implementation of Statistics Article Article 23 paragraph (1) that government agencies carry out sectoral statistics in accordance with their main duties and functions, paragraph (2) Implementation of sectoral statistics can be carried out independently or together with BPS and paragraph (3) Sectoral Statistics whose population reach is on a national scale and can only be done by census must be carried out jointly with BPS.

 In accordance with the mandate of Law No. 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics and Government Regulation No. 51 of 1999 concerning the Implementation of Statistics, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is given the mandate to carry out basic statistical activities, sectoral statistics and special statistics. In 2020, BPS will conduct a Population Census. The 2020 Population Census (SP2020) is the seventh population census in Indonesia to be held since 1961.

 Population Census is a national activity carried out by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) based on the mandate of Law Number 16 of 1997 on Statistics and in line with UN resolutions on the 2020 Population and Housing Census program adopted by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on 2015. This resolution is to ensure that UN member states conduct a census in the 2015-2024 period.

The SP2020 activity aims to obtain a very strategic and up-to-date population base data in the framework of one Indonesian population data. SP2020 will be implemented referring to business processes that consist of 7 stages. A very important stage in data collection involving active participation of residents is at stage 3, the Online Population Census. The Online Population Census will be conducted in the period from February to March 2020 and includes all families and residents of Indonesian Citizens (WNI) and Foreign Citizens (foreigners) who reside within the Indonesian territorial territory, including the Indonesian territorial territories abroad.

The 2020 Population Census (SP2020) is the implementation of a complete enumeration of all seven Indonesians. Innovation and renewal in SP2020 compared to the previous six population censuses is the utilization of population administration data (adminduk) from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) as a basic data for complete population enumeration activities. In addition, the SP2020 will also utilize various data collection modes that use the latest information technology, such as Computer Aided Web Interviewing (CAWI) and Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI). SP2020 is the starting point towards the realization of the Indonesian Population Data.

 SP2020 will produce comprehensive basic statistics up to the smallest administrative region. Data collected included: name of population, sex, marital status, place and date of birth, nationality, ethnicity, religion, education level, information about employment, and housing characteristics. SP2020 will also collect information about the Population Identification Number (NIK), residential address, and compliance with admission data.

Added by Susmadiana, previously the BPS of the OKU Regency had also carried out the Socialization of the 2020 Population Census that was opened by the OKU Regent on September 21, 2019 at the Hall of Abdi Praja in the OKU district government which was attended by the chairman of the DPRD, Forkompinda, Secretary, Assistant and Expert Staff of the Regent, the Head of OPD, Heads of Vertical Institutions, Heads of Universities / BUMN / BUMD, Chair of MUI, Chair of BAZNAS, and Sub-District Heads of OKU Regency.

Meanwhile Chairperson of the Dharma Wanita Association of the Central Statistics Agency of OKU Regency, Meri Harnisah Budiriyanto in her remarks conveyed, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is a Non-Ministry Government Institution (LPNK) which is under and reports directly to the President. BPS is led by a BPS Head and has a provincial and district / city level representative office, each headed by a Provincial BPS Head and a Regency / City BPS Head.

 BPS is responsible for providing basic and sectoral statistical data as regulated in Act Number 16 of 1997 concerning Statistics and Government Regulation Number 51 of 1999 concerning Provision of Statistics. In accordance with the mandate of the Act, BPS has the task and responsibility as the coordinator of all statistical activities in Indonesia. BPS should be able to be used as a reference center, be it data, metadata or organization of administrative activities in Indonesia.
