In the second week of February 2024, 56.64% of districts/cities on the island of Sumatra experienced an increase in IPH. Commodities contributing the largest contribution to the increase in IPH on Sumatra Island are dominated by red chilies, rice and purebred chicken meat. Nationally, the prices of red chilies and rice in the second week of February increased compared to January 2024. The National Food Agency is making progress in strengthening the Government's Food Reserves. The stock level for each commodity is targeted to be 5-10% of the national need or market share to be able to intervene in market prices. The regional government's efforts to handle regional inflation include carrying out low-cost market operations, carrying out inspections of markets and distributors so as not to withhold goods, collaborating with commodity-producing regions to ensure smooth supply, planting movements, realizing BTT and transportation support from the APBD.
