Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting

Monday (25/03/2024), the BPS Price, Finance and Tourism Statistics Team for Ogan Komering Ulu Regency took part in the material for the regional inflation control coordination meeting for the third week of March 2024 virtually in the OKU Regency Government Vidcon Room. This routine meeting is held every Monday and is attended by the Head of the relevant Department/OPD or their representative. In the third week of March 2024, the price of grain at the farm level began to fall, the price at the beginning of 2024 was IDR 8,300/kg, while in March it fell to IDR 7,000 to IDR 7,400/kg. Labor costs increase every year, especially after the increase in fuel prices, where labor costs are the highest cost component. The quality of grain during the rainy season is worse than during the dry season but premium rice is widely available in minimarkets.

The price of garlic in Indonesia continues to increase. On average, as of March 22 the price had reached IDR 43,700. In China (garlic exporter), garlic prices are increasing. On average, the price in March was more than USD 1.5/kg, while in March 2023 the price was below USD 1/kg. Weakening exports and low DMO realization are the main causes of the increase in bulk cooking oil prices. DMO is linked to export volume, when exports decrease it has an impact on decreasing DMO volume, so when exports decrease it has an impact on decreasing DMO volume. The Ministry of Trade encourages business actors' commitment to increase DMO volume in March and April 2024 (at least 70% of the obligation allocation).
