Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in September 2011 experienced inflation of 0.59 percent as indicated by the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 128.04 (August 2011) to 128.80 (September 2011), while nationally there was inflation of 0.27 percent .
  • Inflation that occurred in Palembang in September 2011 was due to an increase in CPI in all expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group (0.74 percent), the processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco group (1.31 percent), the health group (0 , 50 percent), the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.26 percent), the clothing group (1.17 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.05 percent) and the transportation and communication group (0, 14 percent).
  • 2011 calendar year inflation in Palembang City was 2.89 percent, while year on year inflation (September 2011 to September 2010) was 4.59 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia, 45 cities experienced inflation and 21 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Singkawang City (1.53 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Bogor City (0.01 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Palu City (-2.33 percent) and the lowest occurred in Sumenep City (-0, 02 percent).
