Abstract

In August 2012 South Sumatra exports reached a value of US $ 382.32 million. The value of South Sumatra exports in August 2012 an increase of 7.22 percent compared to the month July 2012. However, when compared with the same period in 2011 (August 2011) exports of South Sumatra Province decreased by 4.56 percent.
The export value of South Sumatra Province in August 2012 was US $ 382.32 million consisted of oil and gas exports amounting to US $ 44.28 million and US $ 338.04 from non-oil commodity exports. The value of non-oil exports in August 2012 increased by US $ 43.90 million from July 2012.
The United States, Malaysia and China are still the main destination countries for South Sumatra's exports, during January - August 2012 reaching US $ 649.11 million, US $ 605.07 million and US $ 596.53 million, respectively, with the roles of the three 60.65 percent of total exports in January-August 2012.
Exports to the European Union in January - August 2012 reached US $ 330.29 million (10.82 percent of total exports). Exports to the European Union have decreased compared to the same period in 2011 which reached 557.03 Million. While ASEAN exports reached US $ 677.70 million (22.21 percent of total exports), an increase compared to the same period in 2011 with a value of US $ 607.69 million.
