Abstract

The city of Palembang in October 2012 experienced inflation of 0.41 percent as indicated by the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 132.15 (September 2012) to 132.69 (October 2012), while nationally there was inflation of 0.16 percent.
Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in October 2012 was due to an increase in the CPI in the health group (0.86 percent) followed by the foodstuff group (0.77 percent) then the clothing group (0.56 percent) then followed by the transportation, communication and services group. finance (0.26 percent), then the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.21 percent), the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group (0.16 percent) and the education, recreation and sport group ( 0.03 percent).
2012 calendar year inflation in Palembang City was 2.14 percent while year on year inflation (October 2012 to October 2011) reached 2.51 percent.
Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia, it shows that 37 cities experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Kota Manokwari (0.97, percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Kota Kediri (0.01 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in Ambon City (-2.44 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in Madiun City (-0.01 percent).
