Abstract

1. Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in May 2014 was 102.25 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2014 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, the May 2014 NTP increased by 0.29 percent due to an increase in the price index received by farmers while the price index paid by farmers in general has decreased.
2. The Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) of South Sumatra in May 2014 was 105.55 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2014 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP in May 2014 decreased by 0.01 percent.
3. NTP without fisheries in South Sumatra in May 2014 was 102.25 percent, indicating that in general farmers purchasing power in May 2014 was better than the base year of 2012. When compared to the previous month, FTT without fisheries in May 2014 increased by 0 , 27 percent.
4. NTUP Without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in May 2014 amounted to 105.58 percent, compared to the previous month NTUP in May decreased by 0.04 percent.
5. Based on the NTP sector, in May 2014 the NTP of the food crops, livestock, and fisheries sectors experienced an increase compared to the previous month, each increasing by 1.62; 1,11; 0.64 percent. While the horticulture and smallholder estate crops sectors fell by 0.41 and 0.48 percent respectively.
6. The NTUP food crop, livestock, and fisheries sector in May 2014 also experienced an increase compared to April 2014. The NTUP food crop sector increased 1.38 percent, the livestock sector increased by 0.98 percent, and the fisheries sector increased 0.67 percent . While the horticulture and smallholder estate crops sectors fell by 0.72 and 0.88 percent respectively.
7. Rural inflation / deflation is shown by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In May 2014 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced a deflation of 0.15 percent, deflation was mainly due to a decrease in prices in the foodstuffs sub-group which experienced a deflation of 0.42 percent.
