Abstract

The city of Palembang in July 2014 experienced inflation of 0.89 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to July was 1.90 percent and the year on year inflation rate (July 2014 to July 2013) was 2.76 percent. Palembang City in July 2014 based on seven (7) expenditure groups, all experienced an increase in the price index, namely the foodstuffs group of 2.20 percent, the transportation, communication & financial services group by 1.28 percent; clothing group by 0,80 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0.29 percent; health group 0.21 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 0.16 percent; and housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel by 0.13 percent.
Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in Palembang included: vegetable tomatoes, air transportation, red chillies, inter-city transportation, motorbikes and electric fares. While commodities that experienced a price decline with the highest share of deflation included purebred chicken, garlic, cement, catfish and sugar.
The city of Lubuk Linggau in July 2014 experienced inflation of 1.72 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to July was 2.81 percent and the year on year inflation rate (July 2014 to July 2013) was 2.75 percent.
Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in Lubuk Linggau City during July 2014 included: oranges, tutoring, beef, tilapia and vegetable tomatoes. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation included sugar, cement, garlic, milk for toddlers and anchovies.
Based on the calculation of inflation in the city of Palembang and the city of Lubuk Linggau, in July 2014 the South Sumatra Province experienced inflation of 0.98 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to July 2014 was 1.99 percent and the inflation rate "year on year" (July 2014 as of July 2013) was 2.76 percent.
Based on price monitoring during July 2014 in 82 CPI cities in Indonesia, it shows that all CPI cities experienced inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Bengkulu (2.92 percent), the lowest occurred in the city of Maumere (0.13 percent). According to the regional region of Sumatra, it was stated that 23 CPI cities in this region, the highest inflation occurred in Bengkulu city (2.92 percent), the lowest in Pematang Siantar (0.29 percent).
