Abstract
1. Farmers' Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in May 2015 amounted to 97.42 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2015 decreased compared to the base year of 2012. Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, May NTP 2015 fell by 0.43 percent due to an increase in the price index received by farmers smaller than the increase in the price index paid by farmers in general.
2. The South Sumatra Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) in May 2015 amounted to 102.21 percent, indicating that in general the farmers' purchasing power in May 2015 was better than the 2012 base year. When compared to the previous month, NTUP in May 2015 decreased by 0.09 percent.
3. The NTP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in May 2015 amounted to 97.36 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2015 declined compared to the base year 2012. Similarly, compared to the previous month, FTT without fisheries in May 2015 fell by 0.46 percent.
4. NTUP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in May 2015 amounted to 102.21 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in May 2015 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP May 2015 also fell by 0 , 12 percent.
5. Based on the NTP and NTUP sub-sector, in May 2015 almost all sub-sectors experienced an increase compared to April 2015 except for the food crop sub-sector. NTP and NTUP which experienced a sequential increase occurred in the horticulture sub-sector, which rose respectively 0.45 percent and 0.79 percent, the fisheries sub-sector rose 0.26 and 0.54 percent respectively, the plantation sub-sector respectively up 0.16 and 0.50 percent, and finally the livestock sub-sector rose respectively by 0.16 and 0.32 percent while the food crop sub-sector fell by 2.19 and 1.77 percent respectively.
6. Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farmer households. In May 2015 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.66 percent. The highest inflation occurred in the foodstuffs group at 1.16 percent.
