Hello #datafriends!
After last month BPS conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Draft Economic Census 2026 (SE2026) with ministries/institutions, this time BPS expanded its reach to get support from business associations. For two days, 11-12 September 2024, BPS conducted an FGD on Initial Discussion of the SE2026 Trial with Business Associations.
At least 14 business associations attended the FGD held in Jakarta. Deputy for Production Statistics of BPS, M. Habibullah opened the event with a statement that sparked discussion. "With the new method, it is hoped that the SE2026 data will be more complete and public participation will be better. The problem now is that everything is online. How does BPS identify existing businesses? Of course, the ladies and gentlemen in this association will help us," said Habib. On the second day, Deputy for Distribution and Services of BPS, Pudji Ismartini also attended the FGD.
The main discussion itself was moderated by the Director of Price Statistics of BPS, Windhiarso Ponco Adi. In addition to receiving support, Windhi also said that this FGD was built to establish good relations and as a means of communication between BPS and business actors. "Also to find new ways to implement an efficient census, as well as the right targets by obtaining constructive input and views from business associations," he added.
A positive response came from representatives of business associations, who in principle were ready to help and also felt helped by the Economic Census data. "We can help coordinate with business actors under our auspices. Structured public communication is needed from BPS so that this can be well informed," said Budi Primawan, Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) who came from Lazada.
