Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in January 2011 experienced an inflation of 0.82 percent which was indicated
    by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 125.18, (December 2010) to 126.21 (January
    2011) while nationally there was inflation of 0.89 percent.
  •  Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in January 2011 was due to an increase in the CPI all expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group (2.22 percent), the food group so, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco (0.52 percent), housing, water, electricity and fuel (0.12 percent), the clothing group (0.55 percent), the health group (0.07 percent), the group education, recreation and sports (0.69 percent) and the transportation and communication group (0.14 percent).
  • 2010 calendar year inflation in the city of Palembang was 0.82 percent, while inflation was "year on year" (January 2011 to January 2010), which was 6.25 percent.
  • Based on the monitoring of prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 62 cities experienced inflation and 4 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Padang City (3.70 percent) and inflation the lowest occurred in Manokwari City (0.07 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Sorong City (-1.07 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in Ternate City (-0.32 percent).
