Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in January 2013 experienced inflation of 0.64 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 133.44 (December 2012) to 134.29 (January 2013), while nationally there was inflation of 1.03 percent .
  • Inflation that occurred in Palembang in January 2012 was due to an increase in CPI in the foodstuffs group (2.09 percent), followed by the clothing group (0.37 percent), housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups by 0.12 percent, then followed by the processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.06 percent), while the health group and the education, recreation and sports group did not experience changes in the CPI. While the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the CPI were the transportation, communication and financial services group (-0.06 percent).
  • January 2013 calendar year inflation was 0.64 percent. While inflation "year on year" (January 2013 to January 2012) in the city of Palembang was 3.20 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 major cities in Indonesia, shows that 33 cities experienced inflation and 3 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Sibolga City (3.78 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Pontianak City (0.01 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in Sorong city (-98 percent), the lowest deflation occurred in Ternate (-0.20 percent)
