Abstract

The city of Palembang in December 2010 experienced inflation of 0.54 percent as indicated
by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 124.51 (November 2010) to 125.18,
(December 2010) while nationally there was inflation of 0.92 percent

Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in December 2010 was due to an increase in CPI on 6 expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group (1.02 percent), the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.59 percent), housing, water, electricity and fuel groups (0.33 percent), clothing group (1.02 percent), education, recreation and sports group (0.08 percent) and the transportation and communication group (0.03 percent).
The 2010 calendar year inflation (January - December 2010) in the city of Palembang is the same as year on year inflation (December 2010 to December 2009), which was 6.02 percent
Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia, it shows that 65 cities experienced inflation and only 1 city experiencing deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Lhokseumawe City (2.97 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Singkawang City (0.11 percent), while deflation only occurred in Sorong City (-1.30 percent).
