Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in December 2013 experienced an inflation of 0.04 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 142.79 (November 2013) to 142.84 (December 2013), while nationally there was inflation of 0.55 percent .
  • Inflation that occurred in Palembang in December 2013 was due to an increase in CPI in 3 (three) expenditure groups, namely: processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.31 percent), housing, water, electricity and fuel groups (0, 28 percent), and transportation groups by (0.02 percent). Whereas 2 (two) expenditure groups experienced a decrease in CPI, namely the foodstuffs group (-0.27 percent) and the clothing group (-0.03 percent). While the health and education, recreation and sports groups have not experienced changes in the CPI.
  • Palembang's calendar year inflation until December 2013, which is the same as "year on year" inflation (December 2013 to December 2012) was 7.04 percent, while nationally it was 8.38 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during December 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it showed that 51 cities experienced inflation and 5 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Manado (2.69 percent) and the lowest in the city of Tangerang and the city of Palembang (0.04 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Padang Sidempuan (-0.44 percent) and the lowest in the city of Kendari (-0.05 percent)
