Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in May 2011 experienced inflation of 0.79 percent as indicated by the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 124.49 (April 2011) to 125.47 (May 2011), meanwhile nationally there was inflation of 0.12 percent.
  • Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in May 2011 was due to an increase in CPI for all expenditure groups, namely: the foodstuffs group (1.90 percent), the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.40 percent), housing, water, electricity and fuel (0.46 percent) percent), clothing group (0.89 percent), health group (0.50 percent), education group, recreation and sports (0.10 percent) and the transportation and communication group (0.06 percent).
  • 2011 calendar year inflation in the city of Palembang was 0.23 percent, while inflation was "year on year" (May 2011 to May 2010) amounted to 5.42 percent
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 51 cities experienced inflation and 15 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ambon City (1.66 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Kediri, Denpasar and Mataram City (0.02 percent each), while deflation was highest occurred in Tarakan City (-1.14 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in Bandar Lampung City (-0.03 percent).
