Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in May 2012 amounted to 109.81 percent, indicating that in general farmers purchasing power in May 2012 was better than the base year 2007. However, when compared to the previous month, May 2012 NTP decreased by 0.56 caused by the price index received by farmers in general has decreased while the price index paid by farmers has increased.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in May 2012 amounted to 123.82 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in May 2012 decreased by 0.68 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in May 2012 amounted to 112.61 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. But when compared with the previous month, the horticultural FTT in May fell by 0.78 percent.
  • The NTP of People's Plantation Plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in May 2012 was 92.64 percent, indicating that planters in South Sumatra were still experiencing a deficit. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in May 2012 decreased 0.42 percent.
  • The Farmers Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in May 2012 was 104.76 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the 2007 base year. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced a decrease of 0.34 percent.
  • Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in May 2012 amounted to 115.79 percent. When compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen rose by 0.19 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In May 2012 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.24 percent, mainly due to an increase in the price index of the processed food group by 0.64 percent.
