Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in August 2012 was 110.23 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in August 2012 was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, August 2012 NTP increased by 0, This is because the increase in the price index received by farmers is generally higher than the increase in the price index paid by farmers.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in August 2012 amounted to 124.97 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the base year 2007. When compared with the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in August 2012 rose by 0.29 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in August 2012 amounted to 112.70 percent, meaning the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, August horticultural FTT rose by 0.38 percent.
  • The NTP of smallholder plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in August 2012 was 92.42 percent, indicating that planters in South Sumatra were still experiencing a deficit. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in August 2012 declined 0.35 percent.
  • The Farmers Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in August 2012 was 105.22 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the base year 2007. When compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced an increase of 0.32 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in August 2012 was 115.32 percent. When compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen rose by 0.39 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In August 2012, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.50 percent, mainly due to an increase in the price index of the foodstuffs group of 0.74 percent.
