Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in June 2013 experienced inflation of 1.18 percent as indicated by the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 135.88 (May 2013) to 137.48 (June 2013), while nationally inflation occurred by 1.03 percent .
  • Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in June 2013 was due to an increase in CPI in 5 (five) expenditure groups namely: the transportation group by (4.34 percent), the foodstuffs group (1.53 percent), the processed food group, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.63 percent), the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.08 percent) and the education, recreation and sports group (0.05 percent). While the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in the CPI was the clothing group (-0.24 percent).
  • Palembang calendar year inflation up to June 2013 was 3.03 percent, while nationally it was 3.35 percent. While inflation "year on year" (June 2013 to June 2012) in the city of Palembang was 4.74 percent, nationally at 5.90 percent.
  • Based on price monitoring during June 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it showed that 65 cities experienced inflation and 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Sibolga (1.96 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Gorontalo (0.11 percent). While deflation occurred in the city of Ambon (-0.15 percent).
