Abstract
The city of Palembang in August 2013 experienced inflation of 0.58 percent
indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 141.49 (July 2013) to 142.31
(August 2013), while inflation occurred nationally by 1.12 percent.
The inflation that occurred in Palembang in August 2013 was due to an increase in CPI
in all (seven) expenditure groups namely: education, recreation and sports group (1,00
percent), clothing group (0.96 percent), foodstuffs group (0.70 percent), group
processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco (0.50 percent); and housing, water, electricity
and fuel (0.46 percent), transportation group (0.35 percent) and group
health (0.19 percent).
The calendar year inflation of the city of Palembang up to August 2013 is equal to
6.65 percent, while nationally it was .7.94 percent. While inflation "year on year"
(August 2013 against August 2012) in the city of Palembang was 7.37 percent, nationally
by 8.79 percent.
Based on price monitoring during August 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia,
shows that all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Sorong (6.47
percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in the city of Pangkal Pinang (0.15 percent).
