Abstract
- The number of poor people (population below the Poverty Line) in South Sumatra Province in September 2014 was 1,085. 795 people or 13.62 percent. Compared to the poor population in March 2014 which amounted to 1,110,829 (13.91 percent), this meant that the number of poor people fell by 15,034 people.
- During the period March-September 2014, the poor population in urban areas rose by 3,736 people, or by 0.03 percent. In rural areas it has decreased by 18,770 people, or by 0.46 percent.
- The composition of the poor according to the area of residence (urban and rural) has not changed much, where most (65.85 percent) of the poor are in rural areas.
