Abstract

Abstraction 1. South Sumatra's Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * in August 2015 amounted to 95.94 percent, indicating that in general the farmers' purchasing power in August 2015 decreased compared to the 2012 base year. Meanwhile, when compared to the previous month, August NTP 2015 fell by 0.22 percent due to an increase in the price index received by farmers lower than the increase in the price index paid by farmers. 2. The South Sumatra Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP) in August 2015 amounted to 102.18 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in August 2015 fell compared to the base year of 2012. Likewise when compared to the previous month, NTUP in August 2015 fell by 0.14 percent. 3. The NTP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in August 2015 amounted to 95.83 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in August 2015 decreased compared to the base year 2012. Similarly, compared to the previous month, FTT without fisheries in August 2015 fell by 0.25 percent. 4. NTUP without the South Sumatra Fisheries Sector in August 2015 amounted to 102.12 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in August 2015 was better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the previous month, NTUP in August 2015 decreased by 0 , 17 percent. 5. Based on the NTP and NTUP sub-sector, in August 2015 all sub-sectors experienced an increase, except for the smallholder plantation sub-sector, while for the livestock sub-sector only NTP experienced a decline while NTPUP experienced an increase. 6. Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farmer households. In August 2015 rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.38 percent. All expenditure groups experienced the highest inflation and inflation in the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group, namely inflation of 0.74 percent.
