Abstract
Palembang City in March 2017 Has a Large Deflation (-0.10 percent)
While the calendar year (cumulative) inflation until March 2017 is (0.52 percent). Inflation "year on year" (March 2017 to March 2016) amounted to (3.77 percent). Based on expenditure groups, it shows that 2 (two) groups experienced a decrease in the price index, namely the foodstuffs group at (-0.47 percent); and the transportation, communication & financial services group amounted to (-0.27 percent). While 5 (five) expenditure groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the processed food, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group by (0.26 percent); clothing group by (0.18 percent); health group by (0.09 percent); education, recreation and sports group at (0.04 percent); and housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by (0.02 percent). Commodity prices which contributed to the biggest deflation share in Palembang include: rice, red chillies, cellphone credit rates, broiler eggs and vegetable tomatoes. While commodities experiencing price increases include: shallots, electricity rates, dencis fish, wet shrimp, siam shoes and chicken meat. Lubuk Linggau City in March 2017 Has a Large Deflation (-0.07 percent) The calendar year (cumulative) inflation until March 2017 is (1.07 percent). "Year on year" inflation (March 2017 to March 2016) is (3.18 percent). Commodities that have decreased in prices which caused deflation in Lubuk Linggau city in March 2017 include, red chili, mobile credit rates, garlic, and cayenne pepper. Whereas commodities experiencing price increases include race chicken, anchovies, potatoes, shallots and electricity rates. South Sumatra Province March 2017 Has a Large Deflation (-0.10 percent) The amount of this figure is obtained based on the inflation calculation in Palembang City and Lubuk Linggau City in March 2017. Calendar Year inflation (cumulative up to March 2017) is (0.58 percent). Furthermore, inflation "year on year" (March 2017 to March 2016) is 3.71 percent. Based on price monitoring during March 2017 in 82 CPI Cities in Indonesia, it showed that 49 CPI Cities experienced deflation, while in 33 CPI Cities inflation occurred. The highest inflation occurred in Merauke City at (1.24 percent), the lowest in Tembilahan City and Bajarmasin City by (0.01 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan City (-1.49 percent), the lowest in Padang City and Purwokerto City (-0.01 percent).
