Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in March 2011 experienced a deflation of 0.77 percent as indicated by
    Consumer Price Index (CPI) decreased from 125.81 (February 2011) to 124.84 (March 2011)
    while nationally there was deflation of -0.32 percent.
  • Deflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in March 2011 was due to a decrease in the CPI the foodstuffs group (2.98 percent), the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.19 percent) and housing, water, electricity and fuel groups (0.11 percent)
  • 2011 calendar year inflation in Palembang City is -0.27 percent, while inflation is "year on year" (March 2011 to March 2010) was 5.13 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 14 cities experienced inflation and 52 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Palu City (0.67 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Banjarmasin City (0.01 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Padang City (-2.59 percent) and the lowest deflation was in the cities of Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Sumenep and Gorontalo (respectively 0.01 percent).
