Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in April 2011 experienced a deflation of 0.28 percent as indicated by
    a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 124.84 (March 2011) to 124.49 (April 2011),
    while nationally there was deflation of 0.31 percent.
  • Deflation that occurred in Palembang in April 2011 was due to a decrease in CPI in the group foodstuffs (-2.31 percent) and clothing group (-0.12 percent).
  • 2011 calendar year inflation in Palembang City is -0.55 percent, while inflation is "year on year" (April 2011 to April 2010) was 4.82 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 9 cities experienced inflation and 57 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ternate City (0.52 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Palangkaraya City (0.05 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Jambi City (-1.57 percent) and the lowest deflation was in the cities of Bandung, Bima and Makassar (respectively -0.02 percent).
