Abstract
Palembang The city of Palembang in February 2012 experienced a deflation of 0.44 percent as indicated by
a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 130.13 (January 2012) to 129.56 (February 2012),
while nationally there was inflation of 0.05 percent.
Deflation that occurred in Palembang City in February 2012 was due to a decrease in CPI on
foodstuffs group (-1.94 percent).
2012 calendar year inflation in Palembang City was -0.27 percent, while inflation was “year on
year ”(February 2012 to February 2011) was 2.98 percent.
Based on price monitoring in 66 cities in Indonesia, it shows that 40 cities experienced inflation
and 26 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Mataram (1.73 percent) and the lowest inflation
occurred in Tangerang City (0.03 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Jambi City (-1.29 percent)
and the lowest deflation occurred in Palu City (-0.04 percent).
