Abstract

The city of Palembang in April 2012 experienced inflation of 0.49 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 129.61 (March 2012) to 130.25 (April 2012), while nationally there was inflation of 0.21 percent .
Inflation that occurred in Palembang in April 2012 was due to an increase in CPI in all expenditure groups, namely the foodstuffs group (0.85 percent), the processed food, drinks, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.85 percent), the health group (0, 49 percent), the clothing group (0.41 percent), the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.36 percent), the education, recreation and sports group (0.03 percent) and the transportation and communication group (0.03 percent).
2012 calendar year inflation in Palembang City was 0.26 percent, while year on year inflation (April 2012 to April 2011) was 4.63 percent.
Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 52 cities experienced inflation and 14 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang City (1.76 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Bengkulu City (0.03 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Tarakan City (-0.51 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in Banjarmasin City (- 0.01 percent).
