Abstract

The city of Palembang in October 2013 experienced inflation of 0.83 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 141.68 (September 2013) to 142.86 (October 2013), while nationally there was inflation of 0.09 percent .
Inflation that occurred in the city of Palembang in October 2013 was due to an increase in CPI in 5 (five) expenditure groups, namely: the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (2.03 percent), the foodstuffs group (1.38 percent), the health group (1.31 percent), the transportation group (0.51 percent), the housing, water, electricity and fuel group (0.23 percent). Whereas 2 (two) expenditure groups experienced a decrease in CPI, namely the education, recreation and sports group (-0.08 percent) and the clothing group (-0.13 percent).
Palembang calendar year inflation up to October 2013 was 7.06 percent, while nationally it was 7.66 percent. While inflation "year on year" (October 2013 against October 2012) in Palembang city was 7.66 percent, nationally it was 8.32 percent.
Based on price monitoring during October 2013 in 66 major cities in Indonesia, it shows that 39 cities experienced inflation and 27 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Sibolga (1.25 percent) and the lowest in the city of Samarinda (0.04 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Ambon (-3.82 percent) and the lowest in the city of Watampone (-0.02 percent)
