Abstract

The city of Palembang in June 2014 experienced inflation of 0.54 percent. The cumulative inflation rate from 2014 to June was 1.00 percent and the year on year inflation rate (June 2014 to June 2013) was 4.47 percent
Based on seven (7) expenditure groups, six (6) groups experienced an increase in price index, namely the foodstuffs group of 1.93 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 0.45 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by 0.24 percent; education, recreation and sports group by 0,10 percent; clothing group of 0.06 percent; and the health group 0.06 percent. While one (1) expenditure group experienced a decrease in the price index, namely the transportation, communication & financial services group by -0.02 percent.
Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in the city of Palembang included: chicken, garlic, siam conjoined, onion and red chili. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation included wet shrimp, squid, catfish, potatoes and air transportation.
The city of Lubuk Linggau in June 2014 experienced inflation of 0.47 percent. The cumulative inflation rate in 2014 to June was 1.07 percent and the year on year inflation rate (June 2014 to June 2013) was 3.19 percent.
Commodities that experienced price increases with the highest inflation share in Lubuk Linggau City during June 2014 included household fuels, cement, watermelons, and rice. While commodities that experienced price declines with the highest share of deflation included tilapia, vegetable tomatoes, dencis, and catfish.
Based on the calculation of inflation in the city of Palembang and the city of Lubuk Linggau, in June 2014 the South Sumatra Province experienced inflation of 0.53 percent, the cumulative inflation rate up to June 2014 was 1.01 percent and the inflation rate was "year on year" (June 2014 as of June 2013) is 4.33 percent.
Based on price monitoring during June 2014 in 82 CPI cities in Indonesia, it showed that 76 cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Ternate (1.29 percent), the lowest occurred in Tual (0.06 percent). While the highest deflation occurred in the city of Maumere (-0.72 percent), the lowest occurred in the city of Pematang Siantar (-0.09 percent). According to the regional region of Sumatra, it was stated that 23 CPI cities in the region, 22 cities experienced inflation and 1 city experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in the city of Tanjung Pandan (0.83 percent), the lowest in the city of Bukit Tinggi (0.09 percent). Deflation only occurred in the city of Pematang Siantar (0.09 percent).
