Abstract

  • The manufacturing industry sector has a very important role in the national economy, even
provide the biggest added value among the eight other GRDP sectors. Nearly 25 percent of the economy in
South Sumatra Province is supported by the manufacturing industry sector. In the II quarter of 2010, donations
manufacturing industry to the economy of South Sumatra by 23.56 percent, while in the quarter
III reached 23.28 percent. Although decreased compared to the second quarter, but it still becomes the
leading sector in the economy of South Sumatra.
  • Growth in Production of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industries in the fourth quarter of 2010, South Sumatra Province experienced a slowdown in growth to 3.92 percent compared to the previous quarter reached 9.45 percent. The slowing down of growth in the fourth quarter was due to the decline in growth from the type of food and beverage industry which reached -1.49 percent compared to the third quarter which reached 3.48 percent. In addition, the slowdown in growth is also caused by slowing growth in the type of rubber industry and goods from rubber and plastic goods in the fourth quarter to 8.40 percent compared to the third quarter which reached 8.99 percent. As for the type of chemical industry and goods from chemicals experienced an increase in growth in the fourth quarter to -0.75 percent compared to the third quarter which is -3.30 percent.
