Abstract

  • The manufacturing industry sector has a very important role in the national economy, even
    provide the biggest added value among the eight other GRDP sectors, and remain the the
    leading sector in the economy of South Sumatra. Nearly 25 percent of the economy in Sumatra Province
    South is supported by the manufacturing industry sector. In the third quarter of 2010, the contribution of the manufacturing industry
    on the economy of South Sumatra by 23.28 percent, and there was an increase in growth in
    IV quarter of 2010 reached 23.77 percent.
  • Production Growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry in the first quarter of 2011, South Sumatra Province experienced a decline in growth to -3.51 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010 which reached 3.54 percent. The decline in growth in the first quarter was due to the decline in growth from the type of food and beverage industry which reached -9.46 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010 which by -2.91 percent. In addition, the slowdown in growth was also due to a decline growth in the Chemical industry and goods from Chemicals in the first quarter to -1.08 percent compared to the previous quarter which amounted to -0.75 percent. Declining growth in industrial production. This manufacturing was also supported by a decline in the growth of the type of rubber industry and rubber goods and plastic goods in the first quarter of 2011 to -3.92 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2010 which reached 8.40 percent
