Abstract

  • The manufacturing industry sector has a very important role in the national economy, even provide the biggest added value among the eight other GRDP sectors, and remain the leading sectorin the economy of South Sumatra. Nearly 25 percent of the economy in South Sumatra Province is supported by the manufacturing industry sector. In the fourth quarter of 2010, the contribution of the manufacturing industry towards the economy of South Sumatra by 23.77 percent, and there was a slight slowdown in growth I quarter of 2011 this amounted to 23.58 percent.
  • Production Growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry in the first quarter of 2011, South Sumatra Province experienced an increase in growth to 5.66 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011 which amounted to -7.83 percent. The increase in growth in the second quarter was due to the increase in growth of industrial types food and beverages which reached 2.16 percent compared to the first quarter which was only -13.91 percent. In addition, the increase in growth rate is also caused by an increase in growth in species the rubber and rubber goods and plastic goods industries in the second quarter became 7.59 percent compared to the previous quarter which amounted to -7.36 percent. As for the type of chemical industry and goods of chemicals in the second quarter decreased growth to -4.94 percent compared I quarter of the same year which reached -1.08 percent.
  • The growth rate of the South Sumatra Micro and Small Industries sector over the past two quarters has always been experiencing positive growth. It's just that when compared between the growth rate of the second quarter of the year 2011 against the first quarter of the same year, there was a slight slowdown in growth to 3.90 percent compared to the first quarter which reached 5.69 percent.
