Abstract
The manufacturing industry sector has a very important role in the national economy, even
provide the biggest added value among the eight other GRDP sectors, and remain the leading sector
in the economy of South Sumatra. Nearly 20 percent of the economy in South Sumatra Province is controlled
by the manufacturing industry sector. In the third quarter of 2011, the contribution of the manufacturing industry to
the economy of South Sumatra by 20.61 percent, and there was a slight acceleration of growth in
the last quarter of 2011 was 21.11 percent.
Growth of Large and Medium Manufacturing Industry Production in the fourth quarter of 2011, South Sumatra Province
experienced a growth of 2.04 percent while in the first quarter of 2012 it experienced a slowdown
growth to -1.59 percent. The slowdown in growth in early 2012 was due
slowing growth in the types of wood, wood and cork industries (excluding furniture)
and woven goods from bamboo, rattan and the like which reached -2.49 percent from the previous quarter
which reached 3.35 percent. In addition, the slowdown in growth rate is also caused by the occurrence
slowing growth in the types of rubber, rubber and plastic products in the first quarter of 2012
only by 0.37 percent from the previous quarter which was 11.90 percent. As for the type of industry
food in the first quarter experienced an increase in growth to be -0.54 percent compared
IV quarter of 2011 of -5.90 percent.
The growth rate of the South Sumatra Micro and Small Industry sector in the first quarter of 2012 experienced a pace
pertahanahan that is equal to 2.59 percent.
