Abstract

  • Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in October 2011 was 109.50 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2011 was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, the October 2011 NTP was constant, due because the increase in the price index received by farmers in general is as great as the increase in the price index paid by farmers.
  • NTP Padi & Palawija in South Sumatra in October 2011 was 121.11 percent, indicating that rice and palawija farmers were relatively prosperous compared to the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, the NTP of rice and palawija in October 2011 rose by 0.08 percent.
  • Horticulture NTP in October 2011 was 116.34 percent, meaning that the level of welfare of horticultural farmers was better than the base year 2007. When compared to the previous month, October horticultural FTT rose by 0.06 percent.
  • The NTP of smallholder plantations (planters) in South Sumatra in October 2011 was 93.31 percent, indicating that farmers in South Sumatra were still experiencing a deficit. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of planters in October 2011 decreased 0.11 percent.
  • Farmer Exchange Rate in South Sumatra in October 2011 was 104.24 percent, indicating that the welfare level of farmers was relatively better compared to the base year 2007. However, when compared with the previous month, the exchange rate of farmers experienced a decrease of 0.08 percent.
  • The Fishermen Exchange Rate (NTN) in South Sumatra in October 2011 was 115.91 percent. However, when compared to the previous month, the exchange rate of fishermen dropped by 0.15 percent.
  • Rural inflation / deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and services consumed by farm households. In October 2011, rural areas in South Sumatra experienced inflation of 0.19 percent, mainly due to an increase in the clothing group price index by 0.51 percent.
