Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in December 2012 experienced inflation of 0.32 percent as indicated by the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 133.01 (November 2012) to 133.44 (December 2012), while nationally inflation occurred by 0.54 percent.
  • Inflation that occurred in Palembang in December 2012 was due to an increase in CPI in the foodstuffs group (0.98 percent), followed by the transportation, communication and financial services group (0.29 percent), then the clothing group (0.17 percent), followed by the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.01 percent), while the health group and the education, recreation and sports group did not experience changes in the CPI. Whereas the expenditure group that experienced a decrease in the CPI, namely the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group by -0.03 percent.
  • The calendar year inflation during 2012 is the same as the year-on-year inflation (December 2012 to December 2011) in Palembang City which was 2.72 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 major cities in Indonesia, shows that all cities experience inflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura City (2.57 percent) and the lowest inflation occurred in Kendari City (0.02 percent)
