Abstract

  • South Sumatra Economic Growth with oil and gas in 2012 of 6.0 percent experienced a slowdown compared to 2011 which amounted to 6.5 percent. While economic growth without oil and gas in 2012 reached 7.9 percent, lower than in 2011 which was 8.1 percent. The main sources of growth are the trade, hotel and restaurant sector, the agricultural sector, and the manufacturing sector.
  • The magnitude of South Sumatra's GRDP in 2012 based on current prices reached Rp 206.33 trillion, while based on constant 2000 prices it reached Rp 72.09 trillion.
  • On a quarterly basis, South Sumatra's GRDP in quarter IV / 2012 decreased by minus 2.9 percent compared to quarter III / 2012 (q-to-q), and when compared to quarter IV / 2011 (y-on-y) it grew by 5, 5 percent.
  • On the usage side, most of South Sumatra's GRDP is used to meet household consumption by 62.2 percent, private non-profit institutions consumption 1.1 percent, government consumption 10.7 percent, gross domestic fixed capital formation or physical investment 26.0 percent and net exports minus 1.98 (39.6 percent exports and 41.6 percent imports).
  • If seen growth per component from the GRDP of use, all components experienced a slowdown. Export growth experienced the deepest slowdown from 14.6 percent in 2011 to 2.6 in 2012. The fall in export commodity prices had an impact on slowing export growth.
  • The main source of economic growth of 6.0 percent in terms of use is household consumption 3.99 percent, followed by the formation of gross domestic fixed capital (PMTDB) 2.96 percent, exports 1.15 percent, government consumption 0.65 percent and private institution consumption non-profit 0.04 percent with a reduction in the import component of 6.20 percent.
  • South Sumatra's per-capita income based on current prices in 2012 reached Rp 22.68 million, higher than in 2011 of Rp 20.40 million.
