Abstract

  • The city of Palembang in January 2012 experienced inflation of 0.17 percent as indicated by an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 129.91 (December 2011) to 130.13 (January 2012), while nationally there was inflation of 0.76 percent.
  • The inflation that occurred in Palembang City in January 2012 was due to the increase in CPI in the group foodstuffs (0.74 percent), the processed foods, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group (0.05 percent), clothing group (0.01 percent), health group (0.01 percent) and the transportation group and communication (0.02 percent).
  • 2012 calendar year inflation in the city of Palembang was 0.17 percent, while inflation was "year on year ”(January 2012 to January 2011) was 3.11 percent.
  • Based on monitoring prices in 66 cities in Indonesia shows that 62 cities experienced inflation and 4 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Banjarmasin City (2.92 percent) and inflation the lowest occurred in Banda Aceh City (0.02 percent), while the highest deflation occurred in Sorong City (-0.38 percent) and the lowest deflation occurred in Manado City (-0.13 percent).
